PORSCHE MODEL CARS
PRIVATE COLLECTION

PORSCHE

One brand that can be recognized anywhere, anytime.
Sporty elegance built with a racing spirit.
Throughout a lifetime....

The story begins

Sometime around 1973-74, in the heart of Central Europe, in the outskirts of a dusty little town called Győr. Although not with a PORSCHE, but with a model that was considered a top model at that time...

The story begins

Sometime around 1973-74, in the heart of Central Europe, on the outskirts of a small dusty town called Győr, the story began. Not with a Porsche, but with a pedal-powered Moskvich, which was considered a top model back then!

1970s

This Moskvich - which I received from my parents - sparked my love for cars. We were living in my grandfather's house with a garden back then. However, the day came quickly when we moved to a newly built apartment in a panel housing estate. My father didn't want us to take the car with us to our new home, because the friendly neighborhood kids and relatives had already turned my car into a wreck. Anyway, my father said back then that it would stay there and that's it....

1980s Part I.

Small cars remained. My love for Matchbox cars was nurtured by my uncles and my godfather Jimmy, who one day gave me a toy car with a shape I couldn't understand... Can you imagine what goes through a child's mind when they hold a toy car in their hand that they haven't seen in the streets filled with Eastern European cars or even on TV? I didn't even know what to do with it, but its red color and shape intrigued me more and more... and then of course, I slept with it and took it everywhere with me... even to the street where we rolled cars on the sloping sidewalk, trying to see whose car would go farther? Mine just kept rolling and rolling, and it really felt like I had won the race of my life on that beautiful afternoon... Then came Tibike, the son of our neighbor, who loved to talk with his dad in the garage about everything related to cars. This was the garage workshop of a panel building, with all its beauty, wonder, and smell... Tibi turned my Matchbox car upside down and exclaimed: Porsche! Laci, this is a Porsche 917!"

1980s Part II.

Back then, we spent our time watching bike races that lasted until evening and admiring cars, until one glorious day came in 1981: the inauguration of the playground in Szabadhegyi housing estate. We had discussed with the boys that we would indulge in some real spending with the few tens of forints we had brought from home. Feeling really rich with 30-40 forints in our pockets, we started browsing the offerings... fishing game, bag-in-the-hole game, target shooting... Well, that one was just right for us, and six or seven of us immediately lined up. Everyone picked their favorite to take home. My eyes caught a stunning sticker in red-black-gold colors. I aimed and shot, and I succeeded. I got it, it's mine... the boys got chicken lollipops, plastic toy cars, plush figures, and stuff like that. The oldest boy came up to me and asked, "Laci, did you really shoot down a sticker?" Well, what do we do with this? I ran home in joy, and then I put the Porsche sticker in the glass showcase. It stayed there for a long time. I stuck it on my room door, and then they couldn't take it off during painting, so the sticker was lost, but the 917 remained.

1993

When I already had my driver's license, my father and I were driving a famous football player from Győr to Vienna airport. On the way back, a Porsche 944 overtook us on the main road 1. I said to my father, "if only I could have such a sports car someday"... He replied, "I think it will be even better than this. I just ask one thing from you, if you do something in life, do it well and you will achieve results!" It was the year 1993. Not long after that, my father passed away.

1998

Many years passed again when a friend of mine, Barnabas, decided to buy a sports car and suddenly called me to show me what he bought. I almost fell out of the window when I saw the red 964 Turbo Coupe. He took me for a test drive right away. We covered 35 km on the highway in just 9 minutes! It was a fantastic experience! Perhaps he doesn't even know that my love for Porsche returned because of this... and then the plan was born that someday I will also buy such a super sports car... but until then, I remained with model cars.
The formation of my collection started in 2004 when model car boxes began to line up on the shelves of my garage. At that time, I used to visit the Modellbau exhibition held in Vienna once a year, where I met Alexander Trimmel, the owner of the "exclusive automodell" store in Vienna. His fantastic selection, favorable prices, and endless warm reception left beautiful memories in me. I bought several special car models from him.

2010

Then in June 2010, we organized a very successful introductory exhibition within 3 weeks. Including advertising materials, brochures, venue, showcases, and two cars.
On June 11, 2010, the first exhibition of the Mátyás Porsche Collection 1:18 collection opened! It was open for 9 days and was a huge success. I was just the initiator with some ideas. A dream came true... After one year, the second and third exhibitions were held in Budapest. I had the opportunity to exhibit at a serious auto-motorsport event... Then there was a period of silence and for about 4-4.5 years, the models were boxed up in a garage... except for one car, the 356 Roadster, which marked the beginning of a fresh start for me...
In 2015, I had the opportunity to repurpose an old display system. We set it up on one of the 12-14 m2 walls of our garage with some help from the family :) The unpacking process started again... at that time, there were about 120-140 models... As I entered the garage, I could only stare in amazement, and it seemed almost unbelievable to see them all together again!

2017

In 2017, I made a list of vehicles that would be worth ordering to present a more comprehensive picture of the factory's car-building eras. Before Christmas, a package arrived thanks to a kind acquaintance couple. My thoughts were racing, and even after seeing the current exhibition materials, spaces, colors, and of course, the fantastic vehicles at the Porsche Museum in 2017, I couldn't be satisfied. I tried to keep track of everything, and the thoughts, ideas, and numerous questions just kept coming, even months later. Then suddenly the solutions arrived. By 2019, the concept began to crystallize in me to create a private collection on par with the Porsche Museum. In January 2021, I asked a friend from Germany to help me with ordering new cars. Meanwhile, this connection was severed, so currently my friends Noémi and Ricsi from Győr are helping me with everything. Through them, over 220 car models have arrived to me.

The Mátyás POSRCHE Collection's Present I.

The exhibition hall attained its final form in 2021. However, the continuous expansion of the collection necessitated development. The realization of ideas, the growth of model cars and their associated information, as well as updating and organizing processes, are currently ongoing. The transformation of information into digital content and the inclusion of QR code accessibility are among the plans for the near future. We also plan to create a 3-dimensional vehicle rotation structure. In addition, we would like to enable the viewing of the collection in an interactive exhibition format.

The Mátyás POSRCHE Collection's Present II.

In December 2022, a colorful publication was created, which, for me, is more than just an album containing photos. It showcases my respect for the brand. The publication features a unique design, precise editing, and sophisticated graphic work, along with brief descriptions. The end result is fantastic. The album has already traveled thousands of kilometers, showcasing everyone's remarkable work. We are planning to create further publications. While the editing and printing of the album and business cards were in progress, I also organized the production of a short film in parallel.

The Mátyás POSRCHE Collection's Present III.

On January 14, 2023, the filming material was completed. We are now on January 23, and I have received two versions of the recording. I think it turned out simply fantastic. It's truly professional work! When knowledge and technology come together, they can showcase incredible things. On February 22, 2023, a fantastic website was completed! Gabor, who was also my classmate, came up with a website idea, and I only provided some of the photos and text since he came up with everything else. Not to mention his honest critiques! We have also discussed another important thing - that after a while, new photos will be added to the website...
